Also, teacher/trainer/creative mentor, and mental health recovery worker.
I conceptualise, project manage, stage manage, and promote grassroots music and poetry events.
Hello, and thank you for taking a wander through my website, where you can see examples of some of my more recent projects.
Some of my creative work includes performing in shows with Manchester's wonderful Three Minute Theatre Company, various comedy sketch projects, and producing and directing Rik Mayall’s last-ever voicework in a stage show 'It's Grimms Up North: Rik Mayall's Lost Tapes', which we are staging at the Edinburgh Festival this year.
I currently have a couple of long-term documentary film projects in progress, featuring some of Manchester’s unsung heroes of the underground music scene; and am often working on my W-I-P comedy script writing, or putting my more existential thoughts into dark-humoured poetry!
In 2022, I founded ShyTalk Legacy, an archive and legacy grassroots music and arts event, in honour of dear friend Steve Shy, who created the now iconic Manchester punk fanzine 'ShyTalk' in the late '70s. After successfully staging 20 acts back-to-back over one day in its first year, it has now progressed to become a regular annual festival with other events dotted around the year.
You can see some of the many acts I've staged by clicking here.
My specialities are event, project, and stage logisitics management; directing, producing, and script writing; as well as more visual skills, such as collage-designing posters, logos, and hands-on creating props and decorative items.
As a neurodiverse, multi-disciplined creative, having obtained my degree and a 14+ PGCE in Creative Practices later in life, I have a keen interest in creative support strategies for those with neuro-diversities and mental health needs. Taking inspiration from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs model, I believe everyone should have the opportunity to self-actualise and with the right encouragement, guideance and environment, it's never too late to explore, nurture and develop your 'thing'!
This is where Maslow Studios comes in as I prepare to launch in the Spring, offering 1-2-1 training and mentoring, both online and in-person.
I am also facilitating sessions for the wonderful NHS Recovery Academy in Prestwich.
Anyone is welcome to book onto their many FREE fantastic mental health-themed courses here.
Please do get in touch if you think we may be able to collaborate on something!
I look forward to hearing from you or meeting you at one of my events.
Best wishes,
Yvette
